Fitzroy North-based social enterprise The Beautiful Bunch is a florist with a difference: every bouquet bought directly contributes to supporting young women from refugee backgrounds to access training and employment opportunities.
On Sunday December 5, Heide Museum of Modern Art is teaming up with The Beautiful Bunch for a one-off sculptural wreath-making workshop as part of its Heide Studio Adults series of events. Materials used in the workshop will be sourced from the Melbourne Flower Market as well as the iconic Heide gardens, for decades a favoured retreat for such artists as Sidney Nolan, Albert Tucker, Joy Hester, Charles Blackman and Mirka Mora.
Along with the workshop, materials and a glass of wine, the ticket price includes admission to the museum. There are five exhibitions currently showing at Heide, including the first dedicated retrospective of Australian sculptor Margel Hinder; emerging Melbourne artist Nabilah Nordin’s visceral abstract sculptures; an Albert Tucker exhibition centred on the motif of the lamplight; a recreation of the modernist icon Heide II’s original interiors; and an exploration of Cynthia Reed’s studio.
