The Balvenie and Doughnuts at Eau De Vie
World Whisky Day is nearly upon us again – this year taking place on Saturday May 20. To celebrate the occasion dedicated to the favoured Scottish drop, The Balvenie is collaborating with bars and restaurants all over the country. If you’re a whisky lover, you’ll be right at home. If you’re yet to identify as one though, you might change your mind after attending one of the many events and activations taking place.
Despite taking place on a single day, some venues are keeping the celebration going all month long. Included in this list is Eau De Vie, one of Melbourne’s favourite cocktail bars situated on the appropriately named Malthouse Lane. The bar will be combining a specially designed doughnut with Balvenie, in a pairing designed to invoke feelings of decadence and luxury. Each flavour combination has been selected by the bartenders, with doughnuts coming from their favourite spots around Melbourne.
The team at Eau De Vie has teamed up with Kayla Reid from Nick and Nora’s to create the Gloaming Hunt, made from Balvenie 12 DoubleWood, macadamia and wattleseed liqueur, Becherovka, mango verjus, absinthe and burnt thyme. Between Monday May 1 and Wednesday May 31 2023, you can make your way to the bar to try the doughnuts paired with the specially created cocktail. No bookings are required and the bar will be serving up the pairing throughout the whole of May.
