Despite some genuine invention with takeaway cocktails and housemade spirits, Australian bars still took a major hit during the worst of 2020. But with many venues now reopened in earnest, it’s time to get out in person, reconnect with your favourite bartenders and support the local cocktail scene.
The first-ever Australian Cocktail Month is designed just for that purpose, partnering with some of the country’s best bars to champion our cocktail industry while offering some truly excellent drinks. Spanning venues across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, the May-long celebration will showcase both local and international spirits while letting guests access a special menu of exclusive cocktails.
Participating venues across Melbourne range from scene-defining icons such as Gin Palace (serving Bombay Bramble and Barossa Distilling Shiraz Gin cocktails) and The Everleigh (serving Monkey 47 and Starward Two-Fold Whisky cocktails) to relative newcomers like Nick and Nora’s (serving Patron cocktails) and Poodle Bar & Bistro (serving Glenfiddich cocktails), along with many more.
Tickets for Australian Cocktail Month are $20 and get you access to a special menu for the entire month, allowing you to plan your bar-hopping accordingly. It grants access to exclusive cocktails priced at $14, as well as an impressive array of non-alcoholic options available for $10.
