The Australian Ballet’s Carmen at Regent Theatre

Wed Mar 12, 2025 – Wed Feb 12, 2025

Regent Theatre

191 Collins St, Melbourne VIC 3000

The Australian Ballet is coming to Melbourne with its fiery, seductive production of Carmen. Melburnians can witness athletic performances from some of the nation’s leading dancers in the lavish Regent Theatre setting.

The Australian Ballet is bringing its triumphant rendition of Carmen to Melbourne’s Regent Theatre from March 7 to 18. And Broadsheet Access members can score a free double pass to attend a performance on March 17 or 18.

The widely loved, award-winning ballet of Carmen is propelled by lust, power and passion. It was created by Johan Inger, reimagining Georges Bizet’s 19th-century opera. Inger extends the narrative beyond Carmen’s fiery love affair by telling the story through the eyes of a young boy, exposing a culture of machismo. It’s an emotional, gritty performance, packed with the heat of southern Spain.

Athletic performances by Australia’s leading dancers enhance the striking set and costumes, live accompaniment from Orchestra Victoria and the grand Regent Theatre setting.

Join Access today to attend for free. Tickets are dropping on Thursday March 13, 2025.
