A powerful fusion, this double bill brings together contrasting performances from Danish choreographer Harald Lander and Helpmann Award-winning Stephanie Lake.

The Australian Ballet's newest season will feature a double bill bringing together two contrasting performances: Danish choreographer Harald Lander's Études and The Ballet's resident choreographer Stephanie Lake’s Circle Electric.

Last performed by the Ballet in 2012, Études (French for "studies") follows a dancer's morning ballet class from warm-up at the barre through to exercises in the centre which build to get more complex.

Next Circle Electric – Lake's first full-length commission – is a powerful and energetic movement set against a Robin Fox score featuring his signature electro-acoustic sound mixed with a live orchestra. The Helpmann Award-winning choreographer's work explores the paradoxical ideas of being both insignificant and profoundly important in humanity.

“The duality of Études and Circle Electric shows the diversity of movement in one program," says The Australian Ballet artistic director David Hallberg.
