One of the world’s best bars is flying down from New York for one night only to celebrate the Fitzroy drinking den’s 10th birthday.

Six years ago, lauded New York City gem Attaboy popped up at The Everleigh, giving Melbourne a taste of the cocktail prowess that’s earned it a spot on the World’s 50 Best Bars list for nine years in a row (it came in at number 34 in last year’s rankings). Now it’s back for another round to help celebrate the Fitzroy bar’s 10th anniversary.

Attaboy’s Michael McIlroy and Sam Ross worked at the influential Milk & Honey NYC in the late 2000s before taking over the site and opening their own late-night haunt. It’s a homecoming of sorts for Melbourne expat Ross, while Everleigh co-owner Michael Madrusan (Heartbreaker, Bar Margaux and Connie’s) is also Milk & Honey alum.

Attaboy is credited with creating some of today’s modern cocktail classics, including the Paper Plane, Penicillin, Right Hand and Greenpoint. You’ll be able to taste all the signatures – and more – during the one-night-only takeover, and there are different ways to experience it.

Grab a seat at the bar to catch all the action, with tickets that include a 500-millilitre bottled cocktail to take home; share a window stool with another person in the main bar’s rail area; or gather together a group of friends for a table in The Everleigh’s drawing room. Or, for something a little more exclusive, you can book out a whole area with a group of 10 to 15.

Seatings run from 5pm to 7pm and from 7.30pm to 9.30pm; tickets include a cocktail on arrival, two Attaboy cocktails and paired snacks.
