The Art of John Olsen
More than 25 artworks by Archibald winner John Olsen will be on display this winter at Red Hill's John Cecil Fine Art galley, including a collection of original etchings and lithographs from the '70s and '80s.
Olsen is a legendary figure in the Australian art world, and is known for his bright, distinctive painting style and portrayals of the local landscape and Australian identity.
Born in 1928 in Newcastle, the artist has described his work as "an exploration of the totality of landscape", and some his best known pieces are inspired by natural icons such as South Australia's Lake Eyre.
The month-long exhibition will host some of his most recognisable works including Back o’Bourke (1979) and the Artist and Fishbowl series.
