The Art of Botanical Illustration 2018
For two weeks the Royal Botanic Gardens will be hosting an exhibition to highlight the complexity of our local flora. The gallery will feature approximately 170 original pieces from both local and international artists.
Artists have made the works scientifically accurate, which forced them to use the tiniest of brushes and sharpest of pencils to mimic the intricate details of their subjects.
Plants will be depicted at all stages of their development, from sprouting seed pods and fully bloomed flowers, to wilted remains. The exhibition aims to highlight different forms a plant takes over its lifespan.
All exhibited art is available to buy, and the money raised will support the Royal Botanic Gardens.
From 10am to 4pm.
