Angus and Julia Stone at Australian Open
Over the years the Australian Open has become as much a social occasion as it is a sporting event. For two weeks in January, the AO Live Stage at Birrarung Marr will host some of the country’s finest musicians as well as some stellar international acts.
On January 26, Australia’s best-loved brother and sister duo Angus and Julia Stone will headline the stage (it’s also the day of the Women’s Final, just FYI). With four albums to draw from, the ARIA-winning folkie siblings’ easy, breezy tunes will go down a treat at sunset.
They will be supported by Melbourne singer-songwriter Alex Lahey, whose infectious You Don’t Think You Like People Like Me was voted Best New Track by Pitchfork in 2016, while her debut album I Love You Like a Brother made a bunch of “Best Albums of 2017” lists. Don’t miss her live from 3pm.
Your ground-pass ticket will allow you to visit the nearby outdoor courts, and all the other off court food, bars and entertainment around the grounds. Or you can settle in for the gig and keep an eye on the tennis on one of the big screens. Get your tickets here.
