American Psycho – The Musical
After a successful run in Sydney in 2019, award-winning American Psycho – The Musical is getting a second wind. It’ll show at Arts Centre Melbourne’s Playhouse from May 21 to 31.
The musical, based on Bret Easton Ellis's 1991 novel of the same name and its 2000 film adaptation, won nine 2020 Sydney Theatre Awards. Like the film, it features hits by ’80s artists such as Huey Lewis and the News, Phil Collins and Tears for Fears.
Darkly satirical, the musical revolves around Patrick Bateman (Ben Gerrard), a smarmy Manhattan investment banker who indulges in the excesses of capitalism with a side of murder.
Alexander Berlage will return as director, after being named the best director of a musical at the 2020 Sydney Theatre Awards for his work on American Psycho.
General admission tickets go on sale on Wednesday 26 February at 10am.
