“Almost Winter” at The Big Design Market

It’s officially nesting season. And where better to source gorgeous homewares for cosy winter interiors – and plenty of comforting treats to eat – than the Big Design Market’s “Almost Winter” instalment.

The massive event features 250+ designers and makers selling their exclusive wares from Friday May 22 to Sunday May 24 at the Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton. Shoppers who value ethical production, sustainability, quality, originality and good design will find plenty to get excited about.

This year’s food and drink stallholders include Broadsheet favourites Ca Com, Posh Crumpets, Mat’s Hot Shop, Wonder Pies, Six-Eyed Scorpion chilli oils, Acide pickles, Chappy’s Chips and Cannoleria pastries.

Over on the non-edible side of things, you’ll find homewares, ceramics, fashion, jewellery, toys, tech accessories, books, art and stationery, with brands like Authete Studio ceramics, Ficifolia Fragrances, Gliese 504 scrunchies, Lost Towels, Ricordino prints, TS Makers chopping boards, Ukoo skincare and Lucky Things plant stands.

As well as all the stalls and food vendors, this year’s Big Design Market boasts an art installation from local creative Xue Fei Art, a dedicated kids’ play area – with lots of creative and crafty activities for little ones – and prizes on offer all weekend.

Friday night attendees who arrive between 4pm and 6pm can also score a free knock-off drink, with a Pizzini’s Spritzzini Prosecco Lime Spritz served in a glass with fresh mint and ice on entry.
