A bumper line-up of local labels and pre-loved sellers catering to plus-size people is coming to Coburg this October.

A Plus Market will hold its last plus-size market for the year this October. Returning to the well-trodden grounds of Coburg Town Hall, the inclusive market will welcome independent designers, upcyclers and community sellers catering to people wearing sizes 16 to 32 and above.

The line-up of independent makers is impressive. Sanct, Less Common, Curvature, Voluptua, The Linen Duck, Kingston Dressmaking, Madam Relove, House of Thickett, Six Times Seven and Ebony Bolts all make their garments in Australia, and most are one-person teams.

Accessories haven’t been left off the list, with jeweller Wax Echo Studio and leather goods brand Adapt and Adorn in attendance.

“Plus-size people are so used to shopping being about compromise – finding the one thing in your size and making it work,” says A Plus Market director Sam van Zweden. “A Plus flips that experience. We want people to walk into a room full of options, try something unexpected, get something made for their body, and have some fun with fashion.”

There will be food and drink offerings, a community runway and a morning DJ set. As always, entry is $5 – or pay what you can, no questions asked.
