2019 Sidney Myer Free Concert Series
Whether you’re a Gershwin fan, in the mood for romance or simply want to bask in the sounds of the oldest professional orchestra in Australia, this annual free concert series at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl is sure to hit the spot.
Over three evenings in February, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will again provide the perfect soundtrack for summer picnics, and celebrate 90 years of performing free for eager Melburnians.
The Friday night show on February 8 will gather Gershwin and Friends; on Saturday February 16 – two days post-Valentine’s – bring a date for the Symphony of Seduction with works by Berlioz, Debussy, Tchaikovsky and more on the bill; and on Wednesday February 20 it’s A Symphonic Celebration that's sure to include some crowd-pleasers.
Performances start at 7.30pm and gates open from 4.30pm. Arrive early to nab a space for your rug on the hill.
