The Western Bulldogs will take on the Brisbane Lions at Princes Hill’s Ikon Park this Saturday, for just the second-ever NAB AFL Women’s Grand Final.
The Bulldogs stole a two-point victory over the Melbourne Demons last week, thanks to a timely goal in the final minutes of the game by the AFLW’s leading goal-kicker Brooke Lochland. Despite the close game, the Bulldogs will go into Saturday’s final as narrow favourites against the Lions.
The Lions finished the regular season with a 40-point win over the GIANTS. The consistent Brisbane team will be looking to avenge their loss in last year’s Grand Final, falling to Adelaide Crows by one goal.
Melbourne singer-songwriter Missy Higgins will perform in the lead-up to the game, playing crowd favourites including Scar and her newest single Futon Couch.
Last year’s match was held at Adelaide’s Metricon Stadium, making this the first AFLW Grand Final to be played in Melbourne. Ikon Park is also where the first-ever AFLW match was held in early 2017, and like that game this is expected to be a lockout.
