2001: A Space Odyssey 50th Anniversary 4K Re-Release
Rediscover your love for Stanley Kubrick’s classic 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey, which won an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects and was nominated for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.
The film is a classic best experienced on the big screen and with a re-release in 4K (a horizontal screen-display resolution of 4000 pixels) that is probably true now more than ever.
4K versions of the film will be screened at the Classic in Elsternwick. The Lido in Hawthorn and Cameo in Belgrave will screen a 2K restoration of the film.
2001: A Space Odyssey was released a year before the first moon landing and is about three scientists travelling to Mars with a sentient computer called HAL, which controls the spacecraft.
The Classic will hold screenings at 6.30pm, and Lido and Cameo have screenings at 2pm and 6.30pm each night of the weekend.
