Greek Film Festival 2011

Wed 12th October, 2011 – Sun 30th October, 2011
Palace Cinema Como
Cnr Toorak Road and Chapel Street, South Yarra

In a refreshingly upbeat piece of Greek-related news, the 18th Greek Film Festival will open this October. Over 20 films will screen over the two weeks celebrating contemporary Greek film. Melbourne boasts the second largest Greek population outside of Athens, and so it comes as no surprise that this festival has found immense success in the city. Hosted at the Palace Cinema Como, the festival program features a variety of comedies, dramas and documentaries with themes ranging from political distrust to sexual desire. In a tribute to classic Greek film, the festival also includes the screening of two Golden Globe-winning Greek films by the late Michael Cacoyannis, Stella (1955) and A Girl In Black (1956).
