You know summer is approaching when the outdoor-cinema programs begin to drop, and St Kilda Sea Baths will be home to one of those line-ups.
Openair Cinema by the St Kilda Sea Baths will run from November 30 until December 20. And each evening before the main feature there will be DJs or live music.
The film line-up includes new Hollywood blockbusters, such as Detroit and Murder on the Orient Express, and classics, with a few Christmas movies thrown in to get you in the spirit. Watch Chris Hemsworth take on Cate Blanchett when he returns as Thor in Ragnarok; Ryan Gosling roam a dystopian Los Angeles in Bladerunner 2049; and Baby get put in the corner in Dirty Dancing. As for Christmas flicks, book in early for Elf and Love Actually – those guys always sell out fast.
Ladro has been enlisted to provide an Italian spread for movie-goers. It’s putting on a menu that includes marinated olives and wood-fired pizzas – a step up from your standard popcorn and chocolate (but if that’s what you’re after, you can get that, too). Grab a 4Pines beer, an Aperol spritz or a glass of frosé at the bar.
Openair Cinema is also teaming up with OzHarvest for a series called Soul Sundays; $3 from every ticket purchased will be donated to the food waste prevention group so it can provide meals to those in need.
And, you can bring your dog. The cinema will even provide snacks and a “canine couch” for them.
Openair Cinema Melbourne runs from November 30 to December 20 at the St Kilda Sea Baths. Tickets start at $13.
