The Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) returns to the city in August. The line-up is enormous, featuring everything from indie hits to Hollywood blockbusters to groundbreaking documentaries.

This year the festival is joining forces with some of Melbourne’s best restaurants and bars to ensure that your night is one of both cultural and gastronomic satisfaction – partner venues include Cumulus Up, Bar Lourinha, Mamasita, Embla, Osteria Ilaria and more.

To celebrate, MIFF is giving one lucky winner a double pass to five films of their choice, along with five dinners at their choice of the festival’s partner food venues – some of the best spots in the city.

Here’s some food (and film) for thought.

Head to dinner at Supernormal where they treat the food like fine art. Then see Loving Vincent, an ambitious film about Vincent Van Gogh, where every single frame of the movie is an oil painting.

Patti Cake$, by director Geremy Jasper, tells the story of a New Jersey girl trying to reverse her fortunes as an aspiring rapper. Afterwards head to the rooftop at Loop Bar and listen to some catchy tunes among the city lights.

Terrence Malick’s films have been known to spark many a post-film dissection by movie-goers thanks to his vague story-telling style and existentialist philosophies. Head to cosy Bomba for tapas and wine after watching his latest, Song to Song, to discuss what it was all about.

This competition is now closed.* Broadsheet *would like to thank everyone who entered and congratulate our lucky winner Emma B.
