In 2013, a tiny, weathered cottage in Brunswick was made famous (and was heavily memed) when it served as a backdrop for Beyonce’s video clip, No Angel.
The elderly owner, Jeanette Meadows, made her own headlines at the time with her refreshing naivety, telling the Herald Sun: "When the man knocked on my door to ask if they could use my house to do the photos, I thought he said they were with his fiancé, not Beyoncé.
“I didn't even know who she was,” she told the newspaper.
Now 20 Beith Street is for sale. Nelson Alexander property manager Luke Sacco says, “It’s been a crazy couple of days”.
Despite the wave of media attention, the house actually hasn't received much interest from buyers yet.
Like many other Brunswick properties estimated to sell for more than $500,000, “It’s fairly basic, and essentially needs to be completely renovated,” he says.
The house is a two-bedroom, single-fronted weatherboard with peeling paint, crumbling interiors, an overgrown garden and a beaten-tin roof.
Inspections start this weekend.
