Win: A VIP MIFF Experience, Including Opening Gala Tickets and a Hotel Stay for Two
The Melbourne International Film Festival returns this August with another packed line-up of local and international cinema from indie production houses and the festival circuit. And lucky winner can experience the best of MIFF with movie tickets, dinner, a CBD staycation and even money to spend at the festival bar.
The prize includes a one-night stay for two at Rydges Melbourne; two tickets to the Opening Night Gala, featuring romantic fantasy Wicker, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year; a Food & Film experience for four, pairing dinner at Bossley Bar & Restaurant with a screening of The Fox at The Capitol on Friday August 14; and a $500 bar tab that can be used throughout the entirety of MIFF. The winner will also be picked up from an address of their choice in the MIFF x MINI Countryman and dropped at Rydges Melbourne on the day.
Walk the red carpet at the Opening Night Gala before sitting down for a screening of Wicker. The star-studded cast includes Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård, Peter Dinklage and Elizabeth Debicki, in a whimsical but razor-sharp fable about an outcast who commissions a basket weaver to make her a husband made of wicker. Australian-born writer-director Eleanor Wilson and her partner – both in filmmaking and real life – Alex Huston Fischer will be in attendance at the premiere.
Presented by MIFF, MINI and Broadsheet, the Food & Film program is also back, combining dinner at a top Melbourne restaurant with a show. Every year, MIFF partners with CBD restaurants for this curated series. The competition winner will get to catch The Fox, the feature directorial debut of Danger 5 co-creator Dario Russo. This offbeat Australian black comedy stars Jai Courtney and Emily Browning, with Olivia Colman and Sam Neill lending their voices to a talking fox and magpie. Affable underachiever Nick’s life begins to unravel after a relationship betrayal sends him searching for answers in the bush, where a mysterious fox points him towards a magical pit that promises to solve all his problems. The film’s surreal premise, animatronic animals and ensemble cast make for a distinctly Australian tale of bad decisions, wish fulfilment and small-town chaos.
Before the screening, the winner and their three guests will enjoy dinner at Bossley at 7:30pm, then make the short trip to The Capitol for the 9pm session. Then it’s just a brief stroll back to the hotel for some shut-eye – or to the Festival Hub at ACMI, where you’ll have a $500 tab to spend on a nightcap, with drinks presented by Asahi.
This competition is now closed.
