The Melbourne Theatre Company is giving one winner and a friend the chance to spend a deluxe night out on the town in celebration of their brand new play by Virginia Gay.

Winners dressed in their finery will start the evening at any choice of restaurant that falls under the captaincy of Chris Lucas. That means taking your pick from some of the city’s best, including Chin Chin, Kisumé, Hawker Hall, Baby and the brand spanking new Society and its accompanying Japanese grill, Yakimono. Whichever spot winners select they’ll enjoy $250 to spend as they so desire.

From there, stroll on to MTC’s Southbank Theatre to collect a complimentary drink and settle in for the world premiere of Cyrano, the latest showcase from writer and star Virginia Gay and director Sarah Goodes. Originally written in 1897 by French playwright Edmond Rostand, it tells the tale of a charismatic hero gradually questioning their own mental acuity. This modern retelling sees Gay and Goodes drive a gender-flipped, music-filled take – which comes with a happy ending.

With the applause still ringing in your ears, walk to the nearby Langham, Melbourne overlooking the Yarra and bed down for the night in a Deluxe room with a river view. Wake to enjoy breakfast for two at Melba, The Langham’s inhouse restaurant and lazily dissect the previous night’s events.

All you have to do to enter is enter your details below.

Cyrano runs Sat 31 July to Sat 4 Sept, 2021. Winners can choose their preferred date to attend, subject to availability and excluding Saturdays and opening night (Thurs 5 August).
