The Super Bowl: it’s the biggest day in American sport each year, with more than 100 million Americans tuning in to watch the NFL version of the Grand Final. This year it’s in Houston, Texas, with the New England Patriots (perennial Super Bowl attendees) versus the Atlanta Falcons.
So if you don’t want to miss the game (and Lady Gaga’s halftime show or all the really expensive, specially-made ads) do what the Americans do on Monday, and take the day off. These bars will be waiting for you.
Watch the pre-match entertainment live from 9am at Silverlake Social. It’s offering $12 Woodford Reserve tap cocktails, $10 pints, and Brooklyn and Salitos “beer bucket” specials alongside its regular menu of Southern California classics. This event is first in, first served, so get in early.
Welcome to Thornbury
The Super Bowl Tailgate Party at Welcome to Thornbury kicks off at 10am (drinks from 11am) and will be followed by a replay of the game at 6pm. American beer buckets, cocktail specials and food trucks including Mr Burger, Roadrunner Fried Chicken and Lukumades sweeten the deal. Bookings are welcome and there’s a special offer for groups over 10, so get your mates together.
The Skinny Dog
The Kew pub is serving up $6 Budweisers and $10 Bloody Marys, plus American barbeque all day long. Doors open at 9am. The Skinny Dog is running a comp to win a VIP table for you and four mates, including all-you-can-eat barbeque and a bucket of Bud. Visit the website for more detail.
