To be fair, Australian Rugby fans haven’t had too much to cheer about in the last few years — but the Wallabies have restored pride in the green-and-gold jersey over past weeks, tackling their hearts out over in the UK. So much so, they are now only one game away from winning the union's most prestigious trophy — the Rugby World Cup. At an ungodly local hour this Sunday, they’re facing off against archrivals, New Zealand’s All Blacks.
Here are the places that will broadcast the game live on Sunday at 3am:
College Lawn Hotel
Huddle together in arguably one of the most popular beer gardens in Melbourne. The College Lawn in Prahran is a local favourite and at that time of the morning, the only place you should be, other than your bed, is your local.
The Crafty Squire
What’s more fair dinkum than watching the Rugby at a microbrewery? Enjoy handcrafted ales at The Crafty Squire until the final whistle.
Melbourne’s oldest pub recently got a revamp, but heart of the place has stayed true. What you’ll find here is a relaxed CBD pub that welcomes you to cheer on the boys as they try to lift the Webb Ellis Trophy for a record third time.
If pubs and pints aren’t your thing, pack your blanket and head to the heart of the city. Federation Square will have the Rugby World Cup live on the big screen from 2.30am.
The Hawthorn Hotel
Situated right across from a university (you might see a few students staying up late for different reasons), The Hawthorn Hotel will have all the live action from the 3am kick off.
The Imperial Hotel is one of the most oldest and well-known sporting pubs in the Melbourne CBD — so no surprise that they will be televising the final on giant screens and numerous plasma TVs, and keeping the pints pouring.
The Local Hotel
Like it has throughout the whole World Cup, the Local in Port Melbourne will be televising the final live and loud on one its many TVs and projector screens.
The Sporting Globe
With a name like the The Sporting Globe, it makes sense that this place has your international live sports action covered. With multiple venues in Geelong, Moonee Ponds, Richmond and Werribee, catching the game here is a safe bet. To make the early morning that much easier, there will also be special $10 pints of Heineken.
