On Saturday night Las Vegas time, the two greatest boxers of their generation will meet in a ring. Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather will duke it out at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in what has been dubbed “the Fight of the Century”. It’s been called this for a lot of reasons, not least of them being that both boxers will earn hundreds of millions of dollars, regardless of what happens.

Many words have been written about the incredible backstories both fighters are bringing to this event, and if you’re at all curious, we recommend checking some out.

A number of venues around Melbourne are airing the match, which begins broadcasting at 11am on Sunday (the match is estimated to start around 2pm), with many providing special events, packages or menus for the occasion.

Precinct Hotel (Richmond) has lined up some “dude food” including sticky beef ribs, hot dogs, $20 beer and burger deals and a selection of sharing plates.

The Local Port Melbourne is providing a burger and beer special, where $20 will get you a chicken, beef or veggie burger of your choice, accompanied by a pot of Boag’s Draught.

The Empress Hotel (North Fitzroy) has created a “fight food” menu for the day, with chicken strips, French fries and spring rolls on offer.

Hotel Barkly (St Kilda) is hosting its $15 roast special, as is The Palace Hotel (South Melbourne) which will be roasting in its beer garden.

Turf Bar and Restaurant have the Main Event Menu featuring double bacon, cheese and fried egg rolls, sliders, buffalo wings and chilli fries.

If you’re interested to see what all the hype actually boils down to (but not interested enough to pay the almost $60 for pay-per-view) here are some other venues screening the fight.
