Prince will bring his Piano & A Microphone tour to Australia and New Zealand this February for 10 shows only.

He’ll perform four shows at the State Theatre in Melbourne on February 16 and 17, two shows at the Sydney Opera House on February 20 and two shows at Sydney State Theatre on February 21.

Prince shocked fans with an out-of-the-blue announcement yesterday that he would be commencing his national tour within the month.

The tour press release says, “For those blessed enough to attend, everything about these exclusive performances has been carefully considered to deliver special one-in-a-lifetime experiences.

The repertoire will be culled from Prince’s vast 39-album catalogue and each performance will have a unique set-list that evolves in real time, song-to-song.”

We’re promised to witness special interpretations of well-known hits alongside B-sides, brand-new material and possibly some covers.

Tickets will go on sale for all Australian shows at 12pm on Tuesday February 9 from Arts Centre Melbourne or Ticketmaster.

To address ticket scalping concerns, ticket purchases for the show will be limited to two per person. Physical tickets will only be available for collection from noon on the day of the concern. Photo ID will be required and people will be wrist-banded before entering the auditorium.
