The Mornington Peninsula has become a cultural playground for Melburnians and out-of-towners alike. Scenic foreshores and surf beaches hug the region, while the inland is home to vineyards and olive groves, berry-picking farms and cheese factories. So it’s no wonder this glorious destination will host the most extensive food, wine and music gathering in the region.
Set in the green grounds of the Mornington Racecourse, the inaugural Peninsula Picnic will showcase a gourmet selection of perfect picnic options curated by resident chefs including Max Paganoni (Max’s at Red Hill Estate), Barry Davis (Montalto) and recent head chef Daniel Whelan (The Long Table). Modern-European dishes will be created by Rowan and Janine Herrald (Terre) as well as delicious offerings from Matt Wilkinson (Pope Joan) and Ian Curley (The European) and his good friend Craig Gorton (head chef at the National Golf Course).
The musical menu also offers a buffet of Australian folk, blues and rock artists. Throw the rug down and relax to tunes by The Waifs, Paul Dempsey, the Pierce Brothers, Tinpan Orange and Hayden Calnin.
