Melbourne’s most scenic concert series is back. Live at the Gardens has unveiled a 2026 line-up that reads like a love letter to Australian and international music fans. Returning to the Royal Botanic Gardens’ Observatory precinct across two weekends in March, the open-air program will transform one of the city’s most beautiful settings into a destination for live music under the stars.

This fourth season sees carefully curated bills and genre-spanning performances across five evenings. From introspective songwriting to euphoric dance floors and larger-than-life hip-hop energy, the 2026 line-up brings together artists who thrive in immersive, communal settings.

The first weekend kicks off on Friday March 6 with Marlon Williams, one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most distinctive singer-songwriters. Known for his singular voice and emotional precision, Williams’s music feels tailor-made for the Gardens’ dusk-to-night atmosphere. Fresh from the release of his Māori-language album Te Whare Tīwekaweka, he’ll be joined by Emma Donovan and Kee’ahn for a night rooted in soul and culture.

The next day showcases Australian songwriting at its most resonant. Gamilaraay artist Thelma Plum, whose recent work balances vulnerability with pop clarity, shares the stage with Sydney’s Sons of the East, a band built on harmony-rich folk. Brisbane-raised Jem Cassar-Daley opens the night, setting the tone for an evening shaped by narrative and melody.

On Sunday March 8, the atmosphere shifts gears when UK electronic pioneers Leftfield return to Australia for the first time in eight years. Paul Mac and Late Nite Tuff Guy round out the bill, promising immersive sound, heavy bass and a dance-music experience in an environment far removed from the club.

The second weekend opens on Friday March 13 with a hometown celebration led by Cut Copy. Few bands are as closely tied to Melbourne’s electronic identity, and their euphoric catalogue perfectly complements a warm evening spent dancing beneath the trees. A stacked DJ line-up including Todd Terje and CC:DISCO! ensures the party continues beyond your usual live set.

Closing out the series on Sunday March 15 are Bliss n Eso, whose high-energy shows and enduring presence in Australian hip-hop make for a finale with a bang. Drapht and Horrorshow join the roster to deliver scale and catharsis for the end of this fourth season.

Since launching, Live at the Gardens has carved out a distinct place in Melbourne’s festival calendar. It’s not just the line-up that draws crowds, but the setting itself: an inner-city venue where music meets nature. Expect food and drink offerings on-site, a relaxed but considered atmosphere, and the kind of crowd that’s there as much for the experience as the headline act.
