The roof of the Fed Square car park will be transformed this winter with an ice-skating rink, private igloos, a pizza restaurant in a shipping container and a bar serving wintry cocktails.

The four-month-long pop-up by Australian Venue Co (State of Grace, Fargo and Co, Prince Alfred Hotel) will kick off on May 3 and run until the end of August. It’ll be held at the Fed Square Skyline Terrace – also known as the roof of the Fed Square car park – which has elevated city views.

Start with a 45-minute session at the ice rink ($12 to $24, depending on your age), which includes helmet, ice skate and locker hire. Then lounge about in one of 21 private igloos (which seat between two and eight people) or head to the 200-person Mega Igloo where it snows every hour.

For snacks, a pop-up kitchen will be slinging three-cheese toasties, pizzas (including the fiery Notorious with salami, pepperoni and ‘nduja; and the Ice Queen with cauliflower cheese, maple bacon, four cheeses and chives) and buffalo fried chicken with blue-cheese mayo.

The bar will be serving Espresso Martinis on tap, Fireball Hot Toddies and shots of schnapps to keep the cold away, and after dark on Fridays and Saturdays there’ll be tunes from local DJs.

The Winter Village will open on May 3 and run until the end of August. Igloo bookings are now available here.
