Presenting live music by day and movies by night, Ben & Jerry’s Open Air Cinemas at St Kilda’s South Beach Reserve is a good place to be as the city starts to heat up. And there will be free ice cream.
Expect a series of performances by local talent The Cat Empire, Husky, Kate Miller-Heidke and Kisschasy, plus a range of new release films and classics: Gone Girl, Interstellar, The Breakfast Club and Grease are a few on the bill.
The venue will have a fully licensed bar stocked with a hefty selection, while Ladro will cater with wood-fired pizzas and salads. There will be plenty of room to lounge around so make best use of the deckchairs, beanbags and blankets that are for hire.
Launching with the Sundae Sessions on Sunday November 30, this open-air cinema will host Melbourne musicians Husky, which will play tracks from its album, Rucker’s Hill.
The Sundae Sessions will happen every Sunday throughout the event series. And that free ice cream we mentioned? It’s unlimited with every ticket purchased for a Sunday screening.
All ticket proceeds will go directly to Australia’s World Wide Fund for Nature, an organisation dedicated to protecting the Great Barrier Reef. So if great entertainment and a bountiful supply of dessert isn’t enough to make you feel good, add the support of this great cause to the list.
Ben & Jerry’s Open Air Cinemas runs from Sunday November 30 to Sunday December 21. Head to the website for screening details and ticket bookings.
