From humble beginnings at the now sadly closed Mercat Basement, Animals Dancing has grown to become one of Melbourne’s most beloved dance parties. And now, organisers Otologic and Andee Frost are expanding the party to festival proportions for Bears Gone Bush.

The festival will be hosted at Our Friends Farm in Tallarook, an easy one-hour trip north of Melbourne. The site is best known for hosting Boogie Festival and New Year’s Evie, where Andee Frost has presided over the decks many times over the years.

So far the line-up includes tropical house and lo-fi techno from Japanese DJ Powder; the vintage electronic house vibes of Interstellar Funk from Holland; and the dubbed-out glitches of Germany’s Tolouse Low Trax. They’ll be appearing alongside other soon-to-be-announced local and international acts.

Escape the madness of Grand Final Weekend for a very different kind of party among rural Victorian gums at the end of September.
