Melbourne-born luggage brand July is a self-dubbed “Samsonite killer”, selling comparable bags – with a lifetime guarantee – at less than half the price. This Collingwood store, one of two in Melbourne, is also its HQ.

The brand’s hard cases are available here in numerous colours and sizes, ranging from the carry-on 42 litres to a hefty 110 litres. Each one is made of tough, scratch-resistant German polycarbonate, which can handle any sort of punishment rogue baggage handlers might dish out. Built-in combination locks keep the contents safe.

The handles have more than 20 different stops (as opposed to the usual three or four) to accommodate people of all different heights, and inside each case there’s a water- and smell-resistant laundry bag, two compartments and a Y-shaped compression strap (the over-packer’s best friend).
