The Latest

Stefanino Panino has introduced Friday and Saturday nights. Pop in from 5pm–6pm for happy hour before its dinner menu kicks in at 6pm.

Foodwise, there’ll be snacky plates including antipasti with fried ciabatta; and marinated eggplant with roasted red peppers, olives, stracciatella and persimmon. Plus, larger dishes like rare roast beef with fried capers and horseradish cream; zucca arancini served with carrot and fennel sauce; and chicken cotoletta. Finish with cannoli, affogato and gelato topped with poached persimmon for dessert.

On the drinks menu, expect Italian beers, vino, Espresso Martinis, Negronis and other classic cocktails.

Walk-ins are welcome or book ahead here.

Stefanino Panino is an Italian deli-style sandwich shop, founded by former schoolteacher Stef Condello and his mother Diana Condello. Known for attracting lines and selling out long before lunchtime ends, it originally opened on Lygon Street in Brunswick East before moving to this larger space at Collingwood Yards.

More real-estate means the team has the ability to increase the number of rolls produced per day. And, unlike the Brunswick East original, there’s indoor and outdoor dining, and an espresso machine for coffee.

There are 12 sandwiches on offer, including the Roma (porchetta, roasted pepper, provolone, rocket and Dijon mustard), the Il Manzo (rare roast beef, provolone, picked and roasted peppers, red onion and Dijon mustard) and the Bologna (plain or peppercorn mortadella, stracciatella, pickled peppers and olives). Plus, build-your-own customisable options.

Sandwiches are made on ciabatta rolls from Natural Tucker, in operation since 1984 and one of Melbourne’s oldest traditional sourdough bakeries. There is also a gluten-free option made on Turkish rolls from gluten-free bakery Caffe Strada.
