For a long time, The Bendigo Hotel (or “The Bendi” to its locals) was renowned for metal and hard rock gigs, and not much else. Today, the old Collingwood boozer is a place where anyone can hang out and play pool, watch the footy or kick back in the dog-friendly beer garden with a pint.

Current owners Mirek Aldridge and Larissa Spijkerbosch have upgraded the band room and retained much of the pub’s dive-y charm. The pub also doubles as a taproom for the pair’s other gig, The Mill Brewery, which means you’ll find core range beers, limited releases and tinnies at all times. Plus, classic cocktails including Negronis, espresso Martinis and spritzes.

The Bendi is also a permanent base for roving taco kitchen Dingo Ate My Taco. Come for birria tacos on hand-pressed tortillas, brisket-loaded tater tots and a banging wedge salad.
