An incident is causing major delays on the Frankston rail line, where buses are currently replacing trains between Moorabbin and Mordialloc. A person was hit by a train earlier today, according to an update on the Metro Trains website.

Metro says delays are predicted to last until at least 9pm Monday and will add an estimated 40 minutes to the line’s journey. A Metro spokesperson told Broadsheet it is not known when services will return to normal.

The buses were ordered at 4.40pm on Monday and are currently en route to Moorabbin Station, but as at 5.10pm, may still be another half an hour away.

Metro recommends alternative options for transport where possible.
