At short notice last week, Flour Market was forced to postpone its new initiative Wholey Day, due to unresolved issues with the City of Yarra.

However, it’s quickly bounced back and will launch a series of weekly mini bake sales, called Afternoon Delights, this afternoon. The pop-up will take place in Melbourne Central, on the bridge that crosses over Lonsdale Street, every Thursday from 3pm to 7pm for the entire month of June.

There’ll be an eight-vendor line-up each week that rotates through some of Melbourne’s best bakers and pastry chefs. Over the five pop-ups, breads, biscuits, doughnuts, cakes, cronuts, croissants, cruffins, tarts and more will be served.

Event co-organiser Sarah Booth says, “It’s about shaking things up a bit, we’re really excited to be in the CBD because it opens us and the vendors up to a different crowd.”

Today’s program includes Blackberry Belle, Shortstop Donuts (who’ll also be selling filtered coffee), Butterbing, Eat a Scroll, Cherry Cakes, Cobb Lane, LuxBite and Tivoli Road Bakery.

Over the series, you’ll also see Citizen Cacao, Agathé Pâtisserie, Billy van Creamy, Candied Bakery, Chez Dré, Millstone Patisserie, Nora, Pana Chocolate, Pidapipo and Rustica pop up.

Afternoon Delight will take place on the bridge over Lonsdale Street in the CBD’s Melbourne Central from 3pm to 7pm every Thursday in June.
