The timetables for five train lines will be updated on Sunday August 27 to help alleviate peak-hour congestion.

To accommodate busy periods during the morning and evening peaks, changes to the Sunbury, Craigieburn, Werribee, Hurstbridge, Frankston and Altona lines will come into effect.

A morning and evening train will be added to the Sunbury, Craigieburn and Werribee lines.

Werribee trains will now run every 10 minutes during weekday peaks as well.

The Hurstbridge line will extend 10 services to accommodate passengers between Eltham and Rosanna.

The new Frankston line timetable takes into account the new Southland Station, which will open later this year. Additional services have also been added.

The Altona line will have 37 extended services each weekday. It will stop at all stations between Laverton and Flinders Street via Altona. Now, passengers travelling from Westona, Altona and Seaholme Stations won’t need to change trains at Newport to go to or from the city.
