Around 150 taxi drivers blockaded the main entrances to Melbourne Airport on Tuesday night, after it was announced that UberX would be allowed to offer pick up and drop off at the airport from today.

The ABC reports that two cars were towed and police issued several infringement notices to taxi drivers protesting the extension to Uber's reach in Victoria.

Last night the airport offered free shuttle bus services to affected passengers. While the blockade has been cleared, the airport has warned there may be further protests this morning. Passengers travelling today are advised to leave for the airport as early as possible.
