Victoria Police is advising the public to avoid parts of Melbourne’s CBD after an incident on Flinders Street on Wednesday.
A man has been arrested and an exclusion zone established around an area bounded by the Yarra, Flinders Lane, King Street and Market Street. Roads have been closed and both private vehicles and public transport are affected.
According to the Victoria Police Twitter account, a man was seen driving erratically along Flinders Street around 1.50pm. The Critical Incident Response Team was brought in, and local police arrested the man at the intersection of Flinders and Williams streets. The Guardian reports that the bomb squad was at the scene.
