It’s been 105 days since South Melbourne’s notoriously accident-prone Montague Street Bridge claimed the scalp of a truck, with the city’s roads quiet because of lockdown. But the counter on the How Many Days Since the Montague Street Bridge Has Been Hit website has been reset to zero.

This morning, a truck struck the bridge, which has a notoriously low clearance of three metres but is well signposted after more than 90 years of carnage. Stuck in the right, city-bound lane, it caused delays from around 8am.

At the time of publishing, the update from Vic Traffic is: “this incident is no longer current.”

Nonetheless, the admin of the bridge’s dedicated Twitter page (it has a dedicated Twitter page) had some wise words to share:
