Merri Creek Has Burst Its Banks

The 70-kilometre waterway that runs through Melbourne’s northern suburbs and out to the Yarra at Dights Falls, Abbotsford, has become a raging torrent in recent hours.
While there have been no reports of damage to properties, the creek’s surging waters have provided social media fodder for nearby residents.

The creek just isn’t itself today.

Long-time residents say it’s the worst they’ve ever seen it.
I’ve lived in Clifton Hill for a decade & in Melbourne’s inner north for nearly two decades & I don’t think I’ve ever seen Merri Creek as high as it is this morning. Waters levels along Merri Creek are now falling, according to a release from the Bureau of Meteorology earlier today.
