Editor's Note: The applications are in, and what a response it was. Thank you to everyone who put their hand up to be part of the Australia Post Making Moves Market powered by Broadsheet. We've been genuinely moved by the enthusiasm. Submissions are now closed, and our team is working through every one with care. Successful applicants will hear from us by Friday August 7.
For decades, Abbotsford Convent has been home to bustling neighbourhood markets, with vendors selling organic produce, hot coffee and made-to-order food. This spring, it welcomes another. Making Moves Market, a fresh activation by Australia Post, powered by Broadsheet that will bring together some of Australia’s most exciting emerging and established businesses for one day only on September 20. And entry and participation are both free.
As for the sellers on show, one of them could be yours. We're opening up applications to businesses of all kinds for this debut activation. Whether you run a bespoke fashion label, a jewellery brand, a small-batch soap shop, an independent roastery or something else entirely, this is your chance to be part of the market’s first chapter. Successful applicants score a stall for the day, putting their products in front of a crowd of new customers who’ve come out to discover and support local. It’s also a chance to connect with other Aussie makers doing the same.
The biggest perk, though, is in the fine print: unlike many community markets, there’s no cost to participate. The essentials are taken care of, too – think tables and signage – leaving vendors free to make their stall their own and keep every dollar they make on the day. It’s a deliberate move to make the event as accessible as possible to local and emerging labels. You’ll also get access to the site for bump-in the day before, on September 19.
There are a few simple requirements for stallholders looking to take part. We’re looking for active Australia Post business customers with an established product range, an active ABN and availability on both key dates (bump-in and market day).
Get your application in now – and tell all your friends to get excited for Australia Post’s new pop-up community market.
Applications are now closed.
