Public transport’s been quiet the last few months – and so has Melbourne’s CBD. To combat both, the Victorian Governemnt is giving away 250,000 free public transport vouchers for travel into the city.
The vouchers are valid on Melbourne’s metropolitan trains, trams and buses, as well as regional trains (V/Line), buses and coaches.
PTV is releasing 50,000 vouchers for each of five different categories: Christmas events, galleries and attractions, dining, performing arts and shopping.
The vouchers will be available from Thursday December 16 on a first-come, first-served basis. They’ll be valid for travel from December 18 until the end of January, on your nominated day of travel only. If you manage to score one, your voucher will be emailed to you and you can either print it or display it on our phone.
Public transport will also be free from 3am on Christmas Day to 3am on Boxing Day, and from 6pm on New Year’s Eve until 6am on New Year’s Day. The first V/Line train leaving Melbourne on each line on January 1 is also free.
Happy (free) commuting.
