The newest staffer at the Park Hyatt hotel will melt your heart. His name is Mr. Walker. He’s a yellow lab. And he wears a tie.

Mr. Walker is a guide dog on-hand to provide assistance and companionship to hotel guests with low vision or blindness.

In addition to greeting guests – and probably a mob of fans – at the door, Mr. Walker’s daily schedule will involve strolls around the Treasury and Fitzroy Gardens. When he’s not out on the town, he’ll be based in the hotel lobby, on a custom-made Tasmanian oak bed.

“Mr Walker will provide companionship to hotel guests and staff, giving them a home away from home,” Guide Dogs Victoria said in a statement. “He will also play an important role in raising awareness about the role Guide Dogs play in the lives of those with blindness or low vision, but also in raising funds for us to breed, raise and train more life-changing dogs.

“We’ve already heard some great feedback from the team at Park Hyatt that guests who have booked in for later this year are requesting to join Mr Walker on a stroll through the park.” Smart.
