Melbourne’s forecasted wild weather has well and truly descended and inflicted its first casualty – Frankston Pier.
As reported by 3AW, the tip of the pier broke off at about 9.30am. One caller reported broken-off piece was about 20 metres long and being carried towards Seaford.
The Bureau of Meteorology reported winds of 95 kilometres per hour in Frankston at 9.05am. The strongest gust recorded in the state before 10am this morning was in in Cape Otway, where winds reached 120 kilometres per hour at 5.08am.
