Ahead of the AFL Grand Final this Saturday, a mural has just been finished in Richmond depicting Collingwood’s USA-born forward Mason Cox holding the head of teammate Tyson “Moneybags” Goldsack.
Painted by artist Liam Vear, the image of Cox and Goldsack is accompanied by the words, “Hot Pies, big cox and gold sacks”.
Vear has painted the image on the wall of Steveway Realestate on the corner of Church Street and Bridge Road. It’s a cheeky move to paint a Collingwood mural in the heart of Tigerland following the drubbing the Pies gave Richmond last weekend.

SIGN UPAmong other locations, Vear has also painted a mural of the Skipping Girl Vinegar sign at Richmond bar the Lost Moose.
Melbourne’s no stranger to a well timed pop-culture mural, with paintings of Dustin Martin, Bill Shorten and comedy icon Jerry Seinfeld all popping up in recent years.
You can catch more of Liam Vear’s work at Friendly Organisms, showing at Collingwood’s Budd Street Gallery from November 23–30. Follow him on Instagram at @vearycreative.
