A group of animal rights protesters has brought traffic to a halt at the Flinders Street and Swanston Street intersection just as Monday rush hour kicks off.
Several people holding black signs with the words "This is a peaceful protest" and several vans blocked lanes at the intersection stopping trams and cars from passing through. One of the vans featured an advertisement for the 2018 film Dominion – a documentary featuring confronting images of modern agricultural practices.
There are currently no trams running on Swanston Street between Stop 14 Arts Precinct and Stop 11 Collins Street.
