Rex Tremendae

When Victor Chee took over Rex Tremendae in November 2015, he didn’t need to change much. Previous owner Rob Savage (now roasting coffee full-time as Prologue Roasters) had turned this hole-in-the-wall space into what the western end of the CBD needed most – a good coffee shop.

With five stools inside and half a dozen out on the footpath, the cafe caters to the takeaway orders of office workers and tourists, but the lunch options (bagels from Five & Dime around the corner, and sandwiches made with Noisette bread) make sticking around worth it.

The staff members are keen to chat about the coffee if you are. They roast it themselves at Bureaux Collective every week. Any feedback they get goes straight into next week’s brew.
