When Tre Bicchieri opened it was a versatile all-day cafe and bar – a perfect fit for the laidback atmosphere of Rathdowne Village. After changing ownership several times, it's returned to its roots – with a renewed focus on wine ("tre bicchieri" means three glasses in Italian).

Stop by in the mornings for a takeaway Rustica pastry and an espresso (coffee comes from Code Black). If you're dining in, there's an all-day breakfast menu filled with all of the brunch classics.

The interiors resemble a wine bar more than they do a cafe, and that's by design – there's a great range of wines by the glass or bottle here. If it's a sunny day on Rathdowne Street, have a glass over a long lunch on one of the outdoor tables. The menu offers pizza and hearty bowls of pasta.

Tre Bicchieri is also a very decent bottle shop, especially for fans of Italian varietals. Wines from all of Italy's big regions are represented, alongside locally-made wines using Italian grapes such as Giammarino.
