St Edmonds has been through a couple of owners since opening in 2011, but it’s never lost its cool backstreets vibe. The stout, blocky building was once a garage. This is evident once you’re inside, where a rusted roller door serves as a window blind and petrol stains mark the polished concrete floor. There’s a cute, dog-friendly courtyard for the warmer months. But whatever the temperature, the place is reliably buzzing.

The site is currently operated by Coffee Culture Communication Group, which buys established cafes such as Sir Charles, Liar Liar, Loco Coffee and Addict Food and Coffee. The first exception to that rule was Au79, its vast, multi-faceted flagship in Abbotsford, which roasts coffee and supplies it to the rest of the group, including St Edmonds.

Much like the rest of the family, St Edmonds is less interested in boundary-pushing food than covering as many bases as possible. Whether you’re a green smoothie bowl, Wagyu burger, waffles or classic eggs Benedict kind of person, rest assured there’s something here for you.
