Craig Robins and Jenni Burchell-Robins have been roasting coffee for more than a decade as Southern Addictions Coffee. They also run mobile coffee van Craig’s Hut at markets, which Craig built from reclaimed weatherboards from an old local dairy. But in October 2016, they decided to open a small espresso bar to bring it all together.

The Shot House is set off a laneway in Yarragon’s small village. On any given day, the coffee bar will have the house blend, a decaf and a changing selection of single origin coffees in the hopper. You can enjoy these black, or with organic cow’s milk from Schulz Dairy or organic soy or almond milk from Pure Harvest, processed at the nearby town of Drouin.

The menu also features Masala Prana Chai, matcha and specialty teas for the non-coffee drinker, and a range of locally made sweet and savoury treats. Thorpdale Bakery makes two things exclusive to the cafe – a savoury potato loaf with chives and parsley, and a coffee scroll iced and infused with The Shot House’s cold-drip coffee, itself made using Australian-grown beans from Mountain Top Estate in NSW.
